Chuck Mosier

What do you do for the Visitors Center?

I work part time at the center answering the phone and greeting visitors as they come in.  I also give directions to locations of interest in Ottawa and the surrounding area.

What brought you to the Ottawa area originally? How long have you lived here?

I was born and raised in Seneca, Illinois for 26 years, lived in Reno, Nevada for 8 years, then Florida for 28 years.  I recently moved to Ottawa about a year ago to be closer to friends and family.

What is your favorite thing about our community?

My favorite part of our community would be the friendly people, small town attitude and the active lifestyle.  You can find most things you need here without losing the small town friendliness.

What famous OTTAWA person would you like to meet?

I would like to meet a group of people rather then a single person, the Irish diggers.  I would like to hear there story from them, about their feelings about the nearly 1,000 workers that died in the first year.  How the working and living conditions were for the diggers.  I think I would hear a different story the them being "a bunch of rowdy Irish men."

What do you enjoy most about working at the Visitors Center?

I enjoy talking with the visitors from other communities, States and even other Countries.  It gives me the opportunity to learn more about our history and pass it along to our visitors.
