41st Members Only Art Show

The Ottawa Art League is presenting its 41st annual Members Only Art Show. This fine art display will include work from members of the Ottawa Art League. On Saturday, May 10, there will be a press party from 2-4 p.m. For the duration of the Members Show, the general public will be able to vote on which piece of art they like best. The artwork with the most votes will be revealed at a reception to be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 29th. "Broadway Blast '08" Musical Review

Music at Hegeler-Carus Mansion

On the fourth Friday of every month, from February to November, enjoy the sounds of local talent at the Mansion. This free event features music from classical to contemporary, from brass to Broadway -- all set in the unbeatably beautiful surroundings of this architectural gem. As well as co-founding what was to become the largest zinc smelting operation in the United States, Edward Hegeler launched Open Court Publishing to foster the discussion of philosophy, science, and religion. He and his wife, Camilla Weisbach Hegeler, commissioned W. W. Boyington to design their 52 room Mansion and employed August Fiedler to design its interior. Their daughter, Mary Hegeler, married Dr. Paul Carus, editor of Open Court Publishing, and they raised their six children in the Mansion. The Mansion was a hub of intellectual thought and cultural activities as these families grew. Donations welcome. Event Type: Arts.

Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run

On Memorial Day, Monday May 26, the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run will conduct a motorcycle run. It will depart from Summit and travel to St. Anne for an 11:30 a.m. ceremony. Then it will leave for Marseilles for a 2:30 p.m. at the Wall Memorial. Event Type: Outdoor.

"An Evening with Abraham and Mary Lincoln"

The play is set in the White House close to the end of the Civil War with Abraham and Mary talking/reminiscing about their lives. The 2 of them talk about Lincolns past: how he got started, met his wife, his campaign for the Senate, his Presidential campaign and other events in his life that made him the man we know today. Family Fun Horse Show

Return to the Wall

On Saturday, June 21, the Freedom Run organization will have its annual "Return to the Wall." The event at the Wall Memorial honors the troops who have died during the past year while serving in the Middle East. The riders, which number in the thousands, are scheduled to depart from Joliet at 10 a.m. and start arriving by late morning for a ceremony at the Wall Monument at 1 p.m. It will be followed by a 3 p.m. to midnight celebration featuring food, refreshments, vendors and live music. So-called because Princeton is exit 56 on Interstate 80, the 08 festival features 7 productions at various locations throughout town: Soldiers and Sailors Park,The Council Auditorium at Princeton High School, and Wise Guys Bar & Grill. This year, events also will be scheduled at the festival headquarters at 316 S. Main St., an old newspaper building.
